FAQ

What is a Drone?

Drones, commonly referred to as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), are aircrafts that operate without a human pilot onboard. They're also known as unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). These devices can be remotely controlled by a human operator, and most are equipped with cameras to capture data, images, or videos. The primary advantage of drones is their cost-effectiveness compared to traditional aircrafts like airplanes or helicopters. They're not only more affordable to operate but also more environmentally friendly, as they consume less fuel and produce fewer emissions, thanks to their battery-powered operations.

Why Use a Drone for Real Estate?

Drones have revolutionized real estate photography by offering:

  1. Stunning Aerial Views: Drones capture unique and breathtaking aerial perspectives of properties, which traditional ground-based photography can't achieve.

  2. Enhanced Property Understanding: Potential buyers gain a clearer understanding of a property's layout, dimensions, and its surrounding amenities through aerial footage.

  3. Contextual Insights: Drone footage offers viewers a comprehensive understanding of a property's location, highlighting its proximity to significant landmarks like lakes, parks, and other attractions.

  4. Cost-Effectiveness: Drones, being less expensive to operate than traditional aircrafts, deliver high-quality visuals at a fraction of the cost.

  5. Versatility: Beyond marketing, drones are invaluable for tasks like monitoring construction progress or inspecting solar panels.

  6. Competitive Edge: In a saturated market, properties showcased with drone footage stand out, offering real estate agents and sellers a distinct advantage.

  7. Innovation and Trust: Using drones reflects a commitment to leveraging modern technology, fostering trust and credibility among clients.

Why Use a Drone for Roof Inspection?

Drones offer a modern approach to roof inspections, bringing forth several advantages:

  1. Efficient Inspections: Drones can quickly identify potential roof issues, preventing further damage or leaks.

  2. Insurance Claims: For insurance purposes, drones provide detailed imagery, streamlining the assessment of storm or event-related damages.

  3. Valuable Documentation: For those intending to sell, drone-captured images offer potential buyers a transparent view of the roof's current condition.

  4. Proactive Maintenance: Regular drone inspections help track the roof's state over time, facilitating timely repairs and upkeep.

  5. Enhanced Aesthetics: A well-maintained roof, documented through drone imagery, boosts a property's overall appeal, especially crucial when attracting potential buyers or tenants.

Incorporating drones for roof inspections not only simplifies the process but also ensures accuracy, comprehensive coverage, and contributes to the overall value and aesthetic of a property.

Are there any legal restrictions to drone photography and videography?

Yes, there are specific regulations and restrictions that drone operators must adhere to in order to operate legally. These regulations include restrictions on flying drones over people and property, flying drones above a certain height, and flying drones within certain areas such as near airports or national parks. As an FAA licensed drone pilot, we make sure to follow all of these regulations and have the necessary permits and insurance to operate legally.

In addition to following FAA regulations, we also have our own policies in place for rescheduling shoots. We understand that sometimes unforeseen circumstances can arise, so if a shoot needs to be rescheduled, we ask that the client provides us with as much notice as possible. If a shoot needs to be rescheduled within 24 hours of the scheduled shoot time, a cancellation fee will apply. We also have a rescheduling fee for shoots that need to be rescheduled more than once.

How do you ensure the safety of people and property during a drone shoot?

Safety is paramount in our operations. Before every flight, we conduct a thorough site assessment to identify potential hazards. We also maintain a safe distance from people, structures, and obstacles. Our drones are equipped with obstacle detection systems to further enhance safety.

What happens if the drone captures unintended footage or areas?

We respect privacy and confidentiality. Any unintended footage or images that are not relevant to the project are deleted and not used in the final product.

What's the best time of day for drone photography?

The "golden hours" — shortly after sunrise and just before sunset — often provide the most flattering light for outdoor photography. However, the best time can vary based on the specific requirements of your project and the weather conditions.

What if the weather doesn't cooperate on the day of the shoot?

Weather plays a significant role in drone operations. Adverse conditions like strong winds, rain, or fog can impact the quality of the footage and the safety of the flight. If the weather is not conducive to flying on the scheduled day, we prioritize safety and quality by rescheduling the shoot to a more suitable day, ensuring you receive the best possible results without any additional costs.

How soon can I expect the final photos or videos after the shoot?

Utilizing a streamlined editing process with industry-leading Adobe products, I'm committed to delivering projects within 24 hours of shooting. However, the timeline might extend slightly for larger projects or those requiring intricate editing. Rest assured, the focus is always on maintaining the highest quality while ensuring timely delivery.

Can I customize the video with my own music or graphics?

Absolutely! Personalization is key to making your content stand out. If you have specific music tracks, logos, or graphics you'd like to be integrated into the video, please provide them in advance. It's essential to ensure that any music used is either royalty-free or appropriately licensed to avoid potential copyright issues.

How should I prepare for a drone shoot on my property?

To get the best results, it's essential to prepare the property before the shoot. Ensure the area is clean, tidy, and free from any clutter. If there are personal items, vehicles, or other objects you'd prefer not to feature in the footage, please remove or reposition them. For real estate shoots, consider enhancing outdoor spaces, such as gardens, clearing out cars from the driveway, patios, or pools, to make them more appealing. It's also a good practice to inform neighbors about the upcoming drone operation to ensure their comfort and privacy.
